Meet Spatula

Hi, I’m Spatula, a 4-year-old, 72-pound Vizsla mix! And before you hear that number and think I’m a big dog… let me stop you right there. I am absolutely a lap dog. I’ve been with my foster family for almost 100 days. That means I’ve been lucky enough to spend 100 days out of a shelter, but I’m still waiting for the part I really want… my forever family. I’m the kind of guy who loves everyone, big or small! Sometimes when I meet someone new, I’ll greet them with a happy little growl, but give me about two seconds and I’ll be standing there begging you for pets. Once I know you’re my friend, prepare yourself for a very affectionate shadow who wants to be right by your side. I have the perfect energy level. I’m always ready to play when you are, but the second you decide it’s time to relax, you don’t have to ask me twice. I’ll happily jump on the couch or bed and settle in for some serious lounging. And guess what? I’m fully potty trained and can be trusted to stay out when you leave the house! No crate needed for me—I’m a pretty good boy when my humans are away I’m also SUPER food motivated, which makes me a quick learner! I already know sit, shake, and lay down, and I’d love to keep learning more tricks with my forever family. My favorite things include: Playing with toys, especially my ball! I don’t really understand why you want me to drop it when the real fun is playing chase. Going on walks — I’m still working on my leash manners, but I’m learning! WATER!!! Kiddie pools, hoses, sprinklers, lakes, puddles… if it’s wet, I’m probably going to be in it. I also do great with other dogs! I’ve met dogs of all shapes and sizes and have done wonderfully with everyone. When I first meet another dog, I might give a little grumble, but that’s about it. I’m not really interested in wrestling or rough-and-tumble play—I’d much rather coexist peacefully with my dog friends.
