Meet Sprout

This dog is available to meet by appointment only. Sprout is a 2-year-old terrier mix weighing 25 pounds who is looking for a patient and understanding home where he can build confidence at his own pace. Sprout came to us from a challenging situation and is still very wary of people and new experiences. He has made steady progress at the shelter: he can be leashed and will go for walks, although he tends to move quietly and cautiously. Sprout takes comfort from the company of other dogs and seems most at ease with a canine companion nearby. With people, he remains quite reserved and is not yet interested in much interaction. He would do best with an adopter experienced with very shy or under-socialized dogs who can offer a quiet home, predictable routine, and plenty of time and space. Getting to know a shy dog like Sprout can be deeply rewarding. His progress may come in small steps, but earning his trust makes each one special.
