Meet Stripe

Meet Stripe! Stripe is a smart, energetic 2.5-year-old with a big personality and a serious need for something to do. At around 50 pounds, he’s an active companion who loves getting outside, exploring, playing, and being part of whatever his person is doing. Stripe is very people-oriented and loves attention. He’s a true companion who likes staying close to his person, and he has a wonderfully sweet side. This boy is also an enthusiastic chewer and loves his Kongs, Woofs, Benebones, Nylabones, and deer antlers. He is clever, too, and loves a good challenge. Give him a frozen Kong and he’ll figure out how to get to the good stuff. He discovered that if he licks the outside until the filling loosens, drops the Kong on the floor, and gives it a good shake, dinner comes out. Problem solved. His ability to figure things out is just one of the things that makes him so much fun. He’s a good leash walker and enjoys taking his time to sniff and investigate. Stripe is treat motivated, enjoys learning, and does best when he has opportunities to use both his body and his brain. Stripe is ready for an active lifestyle and loves opportunities to explore. He recently went on a mini hike, waded into a stream, and encountered two deer along the way. He was interested in the deer but stayed under control and didn’t lunge or try to get to them. He also loves playing with other dogs. He has now had successful play sessions with several different dogs and has shown that, while he can be a bit rough-and-tumble, he can adjust his play to match the energy of the dog he’s with. Stripe would love an active foster or adopter, ideally someone who understands the energy and personality of working-breed dogs. He would thrive with someone who is home much of the day and enjoys having a loyal companion by their side. Because Stripe can be cautious when meeting new people and has some herding-dog tendencies, we believe a home with adults or older dog-savvy children would be the best fit.
