Meet Sunny

Meet Sunny! A spirited three-and-a-half-year-old Chihuahua/Terrier mix currently in Easthampton, MA, whose bright personality shines through her soft tan coat and affectionate, playful nature. At about 24 pounds, Sunny is a small girl with plenty of enthusiasm packed into her compact frame! She loves starting the day with a long walk, stretching her legs with a good run, and getting delightfully silly with her favorite chew toy. Once the fun winds down, she is equally happy settling in for a long nap or curling up close for some quality snuggle time. Sweet, sensitive, funny, and affectionate, Sunny enjoys being a constant companion and sharing everyday life with her people. Her expressive personality makes every game, walk, and cuddle feel like shared adventure! Walks are a special part of Sunny’s day. On neighborhood walks with a short leash, she is easy to guide and follows her caregiver’s direction. When she gets the chance to explore open areas, such as fields, on her 25-foot leash, Sunny enjoys having more freedom to set the pace and choose the direction of her adventure. This gives her room to explore while making walks an enjoyable shared experience. Sunny is house-trained, crate-trained, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. She has received obedience training and already knows “sit,” “wait,” and “in place,” and she comes when called. She also enjoys car rides and handles short periods alone well, especially when a peanut butter Kong keeps her company. Sunny is selective with other dogs. Although she has gotten into scuffles when play styles did not match, she has successfully enjoyed playtime with calm, confident canine companions. She should live without cats and is compatible with calm, respectful older children, typically school-age and up. This clever girl would do well with an experienced pet parent who enjoys staying active and can continue her learning through patient, positive reinforcement. Sunny can be reactive toward other dogs and some people while walking on leash, but her training is showing encouraging results! With coaching and a tasty treat, reactive moments are happening less often and are usually less intense. A securely fenced yard is important so she can safely run, play, and unleash those joyful zoomies! Her grooming routine includes professional visits about every six weeks to keep her coat fairly short, with baths between appointments. With two daily meals, regular exercise, training treats, playtime, and plenty of affection, Sunny appreciates a steady routine and meaningful time together.
