Meet Thor

“NO DOGS SHOULD LIVE ON CHAINS.”My name is Thor, and that is what was posted about me when I was rescued from a severe cruelty case back in September. Appearing to have lived on chains my whole life with a huge padlock around my neck, they left me outside to starve and suffer. Thanks to the nurturing, love, and nourishment by a fellow shelter, I have been successfully rehabbed back to health and brought to Pittsburgh to find a fresh start. I am a 2-year old male husky mix. Although I look a little bit like a husky, I don’t act much like one. You won’t find me acting up after finally getting a chance to experience the warmth and comfort of the great indoors! I love to cuddle and be close to my people. Every warm embrace helps to dissolve rugged pieces of my traumatic past. My loving gaze into your eyes will leave you wondering how anyone could have ever treated me the way that they did. Despite my past, I am a certified loverboy & I did not allow them to break me. I am neutered, housebroken, up to date on vaccines, crate trained, and very intelligent and trainable (I know how to sit, give paw, and I’m very attentive). Now that I know what treats are, I will do whatever you say if you have them! So far, I think that cats are okay too. When it comes to dogs, I am a little bit reactive when I am out on a walk (this comes from a place of fear, but I just bark and sound scarier than I am). I AM dog friendly after a slow introduction, and I have been living comfortably with 3 other dogs in my current foster home. Experience with leash reactivity and willingness to train/work on this is required. I am looking for a calm home that feels safe, so another high energy dog in the home would not be ideal for me. Ideally, I would be the only dog and the center of your world, however I am willing to share a home with another calm dog.
