Meet Ticonderoga

Ticonderoga is a handsome, 2 year-old, 40-pound, tricolor American Staffordshire Terrier mix with a gentle nature, a love of people, and an endearing way of making himself at home. This affectionate boy loves attention. He leans in for pets, gives kisses, and sometimes puts his paws in your lap to get a little closer. He's treat-motivated, sits like a champ, and takes treats with a wonderfully gentle mouth. Meeting new people is a pleasure, whether on a walk or relaxing at a coffee shop. Ticonderoga recently had a sleepover with one of our volunteers! He traveled quietly in the car, slept peacefully through the night, had no indoor accidents, and left household belongings alone. When his people settled down, he did, too—relaxing nearby or sitting quietly with them while they watched TV. He was even quiet and well-mannered when left home alone for an hour. Ticonderoga was friendly with dogs he met on leash and at the fence, and he greeted strangers pleasantly. New places initially brought out some enthusiastic leash-pulling, but as he grew comfortable, he relaxed, pulled less, and became more interested in sniffing and exploring. By his final neighborhood walk, he was strolling along with little to no pulling, taking in all the interesting smells. At home, Ticonderoga enjoys chasing soft toys, chewing on his toys, and simply being near his people. He bonds quickly and seems to take his cues from the household around him. He'll explore the yard, although he'd much rather have his people nearby! Ticonderoga has spent too long waiting for a home of his own. He's an affectionate, adaptable companion with lovely house manners and a promising ability to settle into a new routine.
