Meet Trooper

Meet Trooper, a 4-year-old Chihuahua mix weighing 10 pounds. This sweet little guy may need a little time to show you just how much love he has to give. Trooper is a fearful dog who takes time to warm up, but once he trusts you, he becomes a loyal and loving companion who wants nothing more than to be close to his people. Trooper is working on his house-training and will also use potty pads. He tolerates his crate, but if he had it his way, he’d skip the crate altogether and sleep snuggled up with his people in bed. He loves to cuddle, sit in his person’s lap, and burrow under the covers at night. Because Trooper can be fearful, his foster mom believes a home with children 16 years and older would be the best fit for him. He will thrive with someone who understands fearful small dogs and is willing to let him build confidence at his own pace. Going slowly and giving him time to feel safe will be important. Trooper also has a lot to say! He is a frequent barker, so a home without shared walls is a must. A secure, fenced yard is also required because Trooper may run if he becomes frightened. He enjoys spending time in the yard and hanging out with other dogs, but he would be perfectly happy as your one and only, too. Trooper’s foster mom describes him as a super loving and loyal dog who simply needs time to warm up. Once you’ve earned his trust, you’ll have a best friend who wants to be by your side. If you have experience with fearful dogs, a quiet home, a cozy lap, and plenty of patience, Trooper may be the little companion you’ve been waiting for. His minimum adoption fee is $300 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
