Meet Waddles
Meet Waddles, the 9 month old female pitbull mix! Waddles came into the Shelter as an owner surrender after her previous guardian was unable to continue caring for her. She lived in a home with children under 12 as well as adults and was described as friendly. Waddles can sometimes be exuberant in her affection so sturdy children may be best for this lovebug. She has lived in a home with a female Doberman and a cat. She enjoyed playing with her canine and feline siblings. A home with a resident dog may be a fit after a meet ‘n greet at the Shelter. Any resident felines should be introduced in a slow, thoughtful manner. Waddles knows “sit”, “lay down” and “other side” on leash. She would love to continue learning through positive reinforcement based training with her new family. She loves riding in the car and tends to take a snooze or stick her head out the window. After getting her yaya’s out during play, Waddles loved to sunbathe in the backyard. Waddles was crated indoors when her family went to work for about 4 to 8 hours a day and did well. She is reported to be house trained, provided she has regular potty breaks throughout the day. Waddles is available for pre-adoption. Come meet her, fall in love and take her home after her spay surgery. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
