Meet Willow Mae
Meet Willow Mae (Mama Willow) ❤️ A gentle little soul learning that the world can be a lovely place. Willow Mae hasn't had the easiest start in life, but I have a feeling her best chapter is still to come. This beautiful, fox-like girl came into rescue after being abandoned in rural North Carolina, along with other adult dogs and puppies. Following a frightening turn of events, Pawfect Match Rescue & Rehabilitation and BTBB stepped in to bring everyone to safety. Willow arrived at her foster home with six tiny puppies, very little confidence and, I suspect, not much experience of being someone's treasured pet. But what a lovely little dog she is. At approximately 21 lbs, Willow is a petite girl with a delicate build, the most fabulous foxy ears and the gentlest nature. When she first arrived, she was frightened of almost everything. She would cower in her pen, unsure of her surroundings or what was expected of her. But even then, she allowed her foster mum to stroke her, handle her babies and sit quietly beside her. And slowly, beautifully, Willow is beginning to blossom. She now ventures out to explore the house, enjoys a gentle stroke and has even started greeting her foster mum with a wagging tail. She is discovering the joys of a comfortable bed, delicious treats, a little peace and quiet, and having people around who ask for nothing in return. She is a wonderful, devoted mama to her six Woodland Babies, but it won't be long before they are ready to fly the nest and Willow can finally have something that is just for her. A family of her own. Willow is a shy, sensitive girl who needs a calm, understanding home. She isn't yet confident on a leash and unfamiliar situations can make her nervous. She may lower her head when approached, but she is learning to trust, and every day brings a little more confidence. She appears to be house-trained, has been gentle with the people caring for her and is making lovely progress in a family home. Willow's perfect family? Someone patient and kind. Someone who understands that trust is earned, not demanded. A family willing to celebrate the little things: her first confident walk, the first time she asks for affection, or the day she realises that the whole sofa might actually belong to her! A quieter home, a secure fenced garden and people happy to let Willow settle at her own pace would be wonderful. She doesn't need someone to feel sorry for her. She needs someone to believe in her. Willow has spent these first weeks with us making sure her babies are safe, happy and loved. Now it's our turn to make sure she gets the same. Willow will be available for adoption once her mama duties are complete and she is medically ready. If you have a little room in your home, a lot of love in your heart and the patience to help a very special girl find her feet, perhaps you could be Willow's happily ever after. ❤️
