Meet Woody Scout
Meet Woody! Woody is a handsome 4-year-old, 15-pound red long-haired Dachshund who has already been through more than any dog should. He came to the shelter as a stray, sadly dragging his feet and struggling to walk normally. He spent almost a month waiting for someone to come for him, and thankfully, Dachshund Rescue of Houston did! Woody is now safe and resting comfortably in a loving foster home. He can walk, although he still has a funny gait, so for now he is enjoying some well-deserved Kennel rest to give his body the time it needs to heal completely. Despite everything he has been through, Woody hasn't let it dampen his spirits. He is a fun, friendly, affectionate boy who loves nothing more than being close to his people. He is a wonderful lap dog and especially enjoys being cuddled and rocked like a baby. Woody is housetrained, crate trained, leash trained, and does well in the car. He is playful and goofy, but also obedient, intelligent, eager to please, gentle, and even-tempered. He enjoys attention and affection and seems to have a naturally sweet disposition. We believe Woody could be a wonderful addition to a home with children, older adults, and other friendly dogs. For now, Woody's job is simple: rest, heal, get healthy, and enjoy being loved. Once his body catches up with his happy spirit, we think this special boy is going to make someone an absolutely wonderful companion. Woody has waited long enough for someone to choose him. Now he just needs a family who will give him the love and patience he deserves.
