Meet Zara

Zara came to the shelter from the city pound on 9/7/2026, after spending over 4 weeks there and more than fulfilling her legal stray hold. She is a pretty, muscular pit bull type dog who appears to be 2 to 3 years old. She is very nice and seems to be well mannered. She will be vet checked and spayed on Sept. 30th and her fee is $150. Zara is loving and affectionate but can be a little unsure of herself. She does seem to have had some basic training. We think she could be okay with a well mannered male dog but have no way of knowing about cats. Older kids would be best for her. She will need regular exercise. She would make a lovely companion! NOTE: Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.
