Meet Zorro

Meet Zorro! At ~45 pounds and 2 years old, this Staffordshire Terrier mix is the perfect combination of sweet, goofy, affectionate, and just a little bit bossy. First things first: have you seen that face?! Those adorable eyes and that happy little wiggly butt make it nearly impossible not to fall completely in love with him. And his foster mom certainly has. She absolutely adores him…but she also knows that if she keeps him, she won't have room to save more dogs. So she's hoping his forever human(s) comes along soon. Zorro is happiest when he's with his people. He loves snuggling, relaxing in the grass, eating his food and treats, chewing a good benebone, and playing with his toys. Playing may be a little loose of a term. He enjoys thrashing and de-stuffing his toys. He hasn't met a toy he hasn't shown who's boss! Ok back to his love of people! He'd love a home where someone is around a good bit of the time. He doesn't mind if you have to go to work - he's perfectly happy to nap while you're gone - but he'd really like his evenings to be all about quality time with his humans. And then there's the couch. He has a couple preferred spots, and he takes his couch real estate seriously. If you're sitting where he would like to be, he'll politely yet clearly let you know that you've made a terrible seating decision. He won't be rude about it; he'll simply stare at you and then nudge his way into reclaiming his rightful place. Because apparently, some things in life are non-negotiable. Zorro is crate trained and potty trained and has done a great job mastering the basics of being a wonderful house companion. He does well with small and medium sized dogs, but slow introductions are important. He currently lives with other dogs in his foster home (ranging from 10lb to 35lb) and is perfectly capable of peacefully coexisting with them. He isn't necessarily looking for a canine wrestling buddy, though. He respects their space, and they respect his. If you're looking for a dog who will spend all day playing with your current pup, he isn't your guy. But if you're looking for a loving, goofy companion who will happily share a home with another dog after a proper introduction, he could be a great fit. Cats, bunnies, birds, hamsters, etc are a definite no. He has a strong prey drive and has even demonstrated that he's willing to put his impressive jumping skills to work when something interesting catches his eye. Because of this, his new family will need to be especially mindful about outdoor security. There are (2) options with Zorro - 1) a 6-foot fence is 2) a strong commitment to using a secure stake and lead even if you have a 3- or 4-foot fence. He can leap a 4 foot fence like he's in the Olympics. Zorro hasn't lived with children in his foster home, but he may do well with kids 12 and up who understand how to interact appropriately and respectfully with dogs. Note if you have family or friends with kids, Zorro would be perfectly fine being in his crate with a soft blanket and a good bone during their visits. At the end of the day, what Zorro wants is pretty simple: a loving human(s), a comfy couch, some toys, food and treats, and a family who thinks his wiggly butt and ridiculously cute face bring joy to their lives. His foster mom is completely smitten with him. Now she's hoping someone else will fall just as hard so she can send him off to his forever home and make room to save another dog. Zorro is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on core vaccines (rabies, distemper, and bordetella). He is also heartworm and lyme negative.
