About adopting a Poodle
The word "Poodle" on a kennel card can mean a standard, miniature, or toy Poodle, or, just as often, a curly-coated mix such as a Labradoodle or Goldendoodle that staff have filed under the closest name. The label tells you about the coat; it says less about size, energy, or temperament until you meet the dog.
Poodles of any size tend to be bright, quick to learn, and attentive to their people, which makes puppies rewarding to train. Standards need real exercise and enjoy retrieving and swimming, while smaller sizes need less space but still want activity and engagement. The curly coat does not shed much but mats quickly and needs regular grooming, which is an ongoing commitment.
