About adopting a Siberian Husky
Blue eyes and a wolfish coat get Siberian Huskies adopted; the running, digging, and singing get them returned. Bred to pull sleds over long distances, a husky under a few years old has more endurance than most families can use, and the breed's famous independence means recall is rarely reliable off leash.
Young huskies need a secure yard, daily miles, and things to do with their brains. Many are escape artists, climbing fences and slipping collars, so equipment and supervision matter. Training works, but huskies are not eager to please in the retriever sense; they weigh whether your request is worth their time. Puppies are mischievous and vocal.
Huskies are commonly friendly with people, including strangers, and often social with other dogs, though a strong prey drive makes cats and small animals a real concern. They shed enormously.
