Meet Buster

🐾Hi there! My name is Buster! 🐾 I'm a very handsome 3-year-old, 48-pound Golden Retriever/Spitz mix, and I've got a personality as big as my fluffy good looks! I'm confident, outgoing, curious, and always interested in what's happening around me. I'm the kind of guy who likes to be part of the action—and I definitely have a little alpha personality. 😎 I'm friendly with people of all ages, and I especially LOVE kiddos! If they have energy to burn, I'm happy to help with that. I'm a playful guy who absolutely loves a good rope toy, and I'm always up for a game, a long walk, or even a run. Speaking of walks... I'm a dream on leash! 🐕 I love going for long walks and hikes, stopping along the way to sniff the flowers, investigate interesting smells, and watch the squirrels playing in the trees. I'm an outdoorsy guy who would thrive with an active family that wants a four-legged adventure buddy. I'm also a pretty smart fellow. I LOVE learning, I'm highly food motivated, and I'm eager to please. I'm very observant and pay close attention to my people because I always want to know what's going on. I know my name and sit, and I'm working on my fetch skills. With my brain, my willingness to learn, and a few tasty treats, training me should be a piece of cake! 🍪 I'm a very well-mannered gentleman in the home, too. I'm fully house trained and know how to use a doggie door when I have access to one. I don't chew things up, I don't bother the trash, and I know how to settle down when it's time to relax. I do well with most other dogs, but because I'm confident and can get excited during play, some animals may find my enthusiasm a little intimidating. Slow, proper introductions are important so everyone has a chance to get comfortable. I also do great with cats who are already comfortable around dogs. I should also tell you that I'm a little sensitive when it comes to affection. I enjoy attention, but quick movements or sudden pats can make me nervous. I appreciate people who let me come to them and give me a little time to feel comfortable. I'm actually a bit shy when we first meet, but once I know you're safe, I warm up quickly. ❤️ I'm okay with car rides and load up nicely, but I'm still learning that car rides aren't anything to worry about. A little patience, some tasty bribery, and regular outings should help me discover that riding in the car can be pretty fun! My story started when I was found wandering as a stray. A kind lady took me in and gave me a safe place to stay through the harsh winter while waiting for the shelter to have room for me.
