Meet Dillard

Dillard arrived at the shelter from the city pound on 8/31/2026, after he completed his legal stray hold. He's an approximately 2 to 3 year old pug or pug mix. He's kind of stocky and robust and is a typical pug type with all the snorts and snuffles. We will have him vet checked and neutered on Sept. 10th and his fee is $150. Dillard is looking for a home that has some experience with brachycephalic (flat-faced, short-headed) breeds. They can require a little extra care. He would do best in a home without really young kids. He should do okay with another smaller dog and most likely cats, too. He's a somewhat mellow dude who does have short bursts of energy. He needs a little bit of basic training but is pretty well mannered. NOTE: Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.
