Meet Harkin

Harkin is a gorgeous mixed-breed pup who weighs about 30 pounds. She's less than a year old and her heart is just as lovely as her looks. She’s a sweet, affectionate girl who loves to give hugs and cuddle close, but don’t let the snuggles fool you, this girl has an adventurous spirit and is always ready for her next activity. Harkin is eager to learn and picks up on things quickly. She aims to please, listens well, and is already well on her way with house training. Like any young pup, she will still need continued guidance with potty training and basic obedience, but she’s off to a fantastic start and thrives with consistency. She’s an energetic young girl who will do best in a home ready to keep her body and mind engaged. Harkin loves toys, chewing on a good bone, playing with her dog friends, and zooming around the house or yard. She walks nicely on leash and would make a wonderful adventure buddy, especially for someone who enjoys getting out for walks or exploring. She’s not a couch potato and will need regular exercise to be her best self. Harkin is good with both dogs and cats and would enjoy having a canine companion, though it’s not required. She has been great with everyone she’s met so far, though she hasn’t had exposure to children in our care. She can be a little unsure when faced with new things, but she adapts quickly and gains confidence with reassurance. Harkin is not a fan of the crate and will need a very sturdy kennel, as she has been known to bend and escape standard ones. That said, she does settle and sleep in her crate overnight. If you’re looking for a smart, active, and affectionate young dog who’s ready to learn, explore, and grow alongside you, Harkin might be the perfect fit. Her minimum adoption fee is $150 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
