Meet Powerpoint

This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, October 17th from 12PM – 3PM (unless adopted prior to the event). 3910 Middlefield Road All DPS Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea/tick treated, and microchipped prior to adoption. Adoption fee: $650 Powerpoint: A Compelling Presentation on the Benefits of Cuddling 1–2 years old • 16 lbs • Schnauzer mix • Non-shedding Powerpoint would like to present his case for adoption. His opening slide features soulful eyes and an adorable underbite. His supporting evidence includes gentle manners, leisurely walks, and a strong commitment to keeping your lap occupied. By the time he reaches “Questions?” he’ll already be nudging your hand for another pet. Rescued from a shelter, Powerpoint was a total charmer from the moment we met him. This scruffy little gentleman has a tender heart and a wonderfully affectionate nature. He’s looking for a calm home where he can feel secure and people who will love him while helping him build confidence. His Strongest Talking Point: Sweetness Powerpoint was a little frightened when he first arrived in foster care, sometimes retreating to the bathroom to rest. As he became comfortable, his cuddly personality emerged. Now, he loves being beside his people, whether they’re working, cooking, folding laundry, or watching TV. Even bathroom trips apparently benefit from an assistant. He has an endearing politeness about him. Before hopping onto the sofa, joining someone on the bed, or entering a room, he often looks up as though he’s asking permission. Those eyes make a persuasive argument. And when he feels the petting portion of the program has ended prematurely, he gently paws at your hand to request an extension. No lengthy explanation needed. A Very Manageable Meeting Agenda Powerpoint usually wakes around 8–8:30 a.m. and heads outside for a short walk, followed by breakfast around 9–9:30. He enjoys a midday backyard potty break and some fresh air, then dinner around 6:30–7:30 p.m. An evening walk rounds out his day before bedtime around 10:30. In between, he’s mostly interested in resting near his person. He may play with a toy when invited, but he rarely initiates play himself. Cuddles and slow strolls are much more his speed. His foster reports no shedding, though he may not have a true hypoallergenic coat. His scruffy coat will need regular brushing and appropriate grooming to keep him comfortable and tidy. Excellent Public Relations Powerpoint is a pleasant walking companion who generally stays beside or slightly behind his person without much pulling. He enjoys greeting people and receiving pets, and he has been relaxed around dogs encountered on walks, including larger dogs who approached him. Occasionally, he pulls toward a dog he’d like to meet. He hasn’t shown interest in chasing squirrels or barking at passersby. In fact, his foster hasn’t heard him bark during his first week in their home. He hasn’t lived with another dog or cat in this foster home, and he hasn’t met children yet. He did live with another dog (his buddy Excel) while in the shelter, and they adored each other, so he could be a good fit for a home with a resident dog. He also met a cat at the DPS Safehouse and was very polite with her. One Important Item on the Agenda Powerpoint isn't a big fan of being left alone and may vocalize to indicate his displeasure. His new family will need a comfortable, safe setup and a thoughtful plan for managing absences while helping him gradually learn that being apart is okay. Patient training and professional support will be important; his affectionate nature doesn’t make this challenge any less real. He also gets carsick, so a lifestyle centered on neighborhood outings and cozy time at home would be a better fit than frequent road trips. This may improve over time, but he won't likely be a roadie any time soon. Good Manners, Tender Heart After one accident on his first day, Powerpoint has had no further potty accidents in his foster home. He hasn’t shown destructive chewing or digging, either. With familiar people nearby, he’s a quiet, gentle companion who asks for little more than affection and a comfortable place to rest. A calm household that enjoys leisurely walks and close companionship could be a wonderful match. He may especially appeal to someone who prefers a peaceful routine and a dog who is delighted to share it. Powerpoint’s presentation is simple: a little scruff, a little underbite, and a whole lot of love. He’s ready to find the people who will help his next chapter come together, one reassuring day and one belly rub at a time.
