Meet Ziggy
Meet Ziggy! 🐾 Ziggy is a 9-month-old sweetheart who seems to believe everyone he meets is a potential new best friend. Dogs, kids, people… Ziggy is ready to say hello, hand out kisses, and then settle in for a nap once he’s gotten his share of attention. Despite being a puppy, Ziggy is surprisingly chill and easygoing. He enjoys his walks and adventures, but he’s equally happy snoozing on the couch or relaxing in his bed. On one longer walk, he even decided he was finished and laid down in protest until another dog came along and inspired him to keep going! Ziggy is house trained in his foster home and has had no accidents. He is also comfortable spending time in his crate. He showed a little separation anxiety during his first few days, but he has already made significant progress. His foster currently recommends continuing to crate him when left alone since he is still a curious puppy who occasionally gets into things. He loves other dogs and eagerly approaches them with a wagging tail, ready to play. He has met dogs of different sizes and has done very well. He has also met children ages 10 and 13 and absolutely loved them, quickly bonding with his foster’s 10-year-old granddaughter. Ziggy is an enthusiastic greeter who currently likes to jump up and give big kisses, so his puppy enthusiasm may be a lot for very young children. Ziggy has also been living with a cat. He wants very badly to play and can come on strong, including trying to follow or chase when the cat has had enough. A home with a dog-savvy cat and adopters prepared to continue working on appropriate boundaries would be the best fit if his new family has a feline friend. Leash manners and basic commands are still works in progress, but Ziggy is smart, adaptable, and quick to learn. His foster is currently working with him on manners and boundaries, and he’ll need a family ready to continue that training as he grows. More than anything, Ziggy is affectionate. He loves snuggling, following his people around, giving kisses, and going all-in for a hug. He adapts quickly to new situations and has shown no aggression or concerning behavioral issues in his foster home. Ziggy could fit into many different households, but he would especially love a home where he can be included in family life. Older kids and another friendly dog could be a great match for this social little guy. If you’re looking for a loving, goofy young dog who can play with the best of them and then happily curl up beside you, Ziggy might be exactly who you’ve been waiting for. ❤️ This dog is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed or neutered. (Please note: Puppies under 3 months old may not be sterilized prior to adoption. If this is the case, your adoption coordinator will provide guidance on the process.) To adopt or learn more about this dog, you must complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website: www.sandypawsrescue.com. PLEASE READ: • If a dog or puppy is listed, they are currently available for adoption. However, they may already be pending an adoption, and their profile may not yet reflect this. • All information is accurate to the best of our knowledge as of the posting date. • Unless explicitly stated, Sandy Paws Rescue does not guarantee the breed of any dog. Breeds listed are educated guesses made by shelter staff, volunteers, or veterinarians. Many of our dogs are mixed breeds, often with pit bull-type genetics, resulting in a wide variety of physical traits and temperaments. Our dogs come from various situations, such as kill shelters, owner surrenders, or as strays. It is likely both parents were mixed breeds as well. Sandy Paws Rescue does not have a public shelter in Massachusetts. Our dogs reside in private foster homes or boarding kennels in the South until adopted. Many dogs are spoken for prior to transport or release from state-mandated isolation. For information on adoption fees, procedures, or FAQs, visit our website: www.sandypawsrescue.com. The FIRST step in adopting from Sandy Paws Rescue is to submit a completed adoption application.
