Bred to pull sleds over long distances, a husky under a few years old has more endurance than most families can use, and the breed's famous independence means recall is rarely reliable off leash.
Young huskies need a secure yard, daily miles, and things to do with their brains. Many are escape artists, climbing fences and slipping collars, so equipment and supervision matter.
