A Siberian Husky can live in a warm climate with shade, water, air conditioning, and exercise timed for cooler hours. The double coat insulates in both directions, so it should not be shaved. Many huskies in southern shelters do fine, but summer routines take planning.
Most Siberian Huskies are not reliable off leash and can vanish over the horizon after a squirrel. A secure fenced area or a long line is the safer plan for exercise. Some individuals do learn solid recall, but treat it as an exception, not an expectation.
Siberian Huskies shed a great deal, with dramatic coat blows each spring and fall when the undercoat comes out in clumps. Frequent brushing during those weeks helps, and the rest of the year is more moderate. If shedding is a dealbreaker, this is not the breed for you.
