All 36 Border Collies surrendered after Palm City case; adoption applications open Sept. 1

In early August, 36 Border Collies were rescued from a Palm City home where they were found living in deplorable conditions without air conditioning and surrounded by feces and debris. The dogs were surrendered to the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast, which has since provided them with necessary medical care, including baths, vaccinations, and treatment for various infections and parasites. Despite the dire conditions they were found in, some of the dogs have shown signs of improvement, though two remain withdrawn and are struggling with their recovery. Paige O'Donnell, the owner, faces 72 charges related to animal cruelty. The Humane Society plans to complete medical and behavioral evaluations for the dogs before opening adoption applications on September 1. Adoption fees will be $140 for adults and $175 for puppies. The shelter is not currently seeking donations of pet food or supplies but welcomes contributions to their Emergency Medical Fund to support ongoing veterinary care.
