PET OF THE WEEK: Meet Lil, the intelligent 1-year-old hound

Lil, a 1-year-old mixed-breed hound weighing 40 pounds, is currently at Haven Humane Society in Anderson, participating in the Camp Love-a-Pet program. This initiative pairs shelter dogs with local campers to work on basic obedience, loose-leash walking, and learning new tricks. Lil has been described by shelter staff as intelligent, attentive, and affectionate, though she may be a bit shy initially. She is one of six dogs in the program, including her brother Phil, who are all seeking permanent homes. Two of the Camp Love-a-Pet dogs have already found families. To support Lil and the other dogs, adoption fees are waived from July 18 through July 26, thanks to the BISSELL Pet Foundation. Interested individuals can visit the Haven Humane Society website to schedule a meeting with Lil or any of the participating dogs.
